I’m Ready to Discuss With Jonathan, Says Atiku
Indications are emerging that Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar who
lost the presidential
primaries of the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP to President
Jonathan is willing to discuss
with President Goodluck Jonathan, with a view to resolving their
differences and working together.
Atiku who had petitioned the Independent Electoral Commission (Inec)
over the recent PDP
primaries
and convention, in which he lost to President Jonathan, alleging
irregularities,
he
has decided to be amenable to any move that would bring about a new
relationship with
both Jonathan and his group.
Watchdogreporters gathered that President has called on Atiku to join
his campaign team
and should send details of his campaign expenses for him to be
reimbursed. There are
indications that some members of Atiku’s team, such as Chief Ben Obi,
Paul Ibe will be
seconded to Jonathan’s campaign organization, while Mallam Garba Shehal
are expected to
remain with the former Vice President.
It is also unclear whether the Adamu Ciroma consensus committee
will be willing to work for
Jonathan, under the new development. Accepting to work with him,
analysts say meant that the
Northern Political Leadership Forum has lost its bearing, in the
political landscape Atiku frowned
at “baseless propaganda” in the media over his failure to congratulate
President Jonathan who
was the eventual winner of the PDP
presidential primaries. The former vice-president, who is currently on
vacation in Europe said
instead of campaigning against his person, the president’s camp should
open dialogue and
reach out to other aggrieved members of the party. He said “If those
who have won the so-called
victory are confident of the genuineness of their victory, they should
go on.”
